Unbelievable Faith

Genesis 17

I pray blessings on you as you read.

(v. 5) "No longer will you be called Abram, your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations." (v. 7) "I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you."

My Thoughts

God had already made four promises to Abram, and the fifth was that he would be a father of many nations. God also changed Abram's name to Abraham, the meaning of which is 'father of many.' Abraham was told he would have a son and to call him Isaac. He laughed about this because he was one ninety-nine years old and his wife, Sarah, was ninety. So it was unbelievable to him.

Abraham was not thinking about the fact that God can do anything. He had unbelievable faith though, because he did trust in God and he was faithful and obedient. We all need to remember as well, that God can do anything. God can do the 'impossible.' Can you imagine what God could do if we were to have unbelievable faith? Strike that. Can you imagine what God would do if were to have faith in the unbelievable?

God can do anything. God does a lot currently. If we were to have even more faith, we would be allowing God to do even more! It's not that God can't without us, but that He doesn't want to because He wants us to have faith in Him and He wants for us to want to do the work that He has for us.

Abraham had a lot going on because God was giving him blessing after blessing and teaching him a lot. Sometimes we have a lot going on, for a different reason. Even in all of that, we have to remember to keep our faith. Remember that whatever is happening, good or bad, God has a plan that will come out of it. If we have faith when things are bleak, or we have faith that good will come when it seems impossible, and we keep praying to God and relying on Him, He will bring good out of every situation.
