Teaching Others

Titus 2

I pray blessings on you as you read.

(v. 1) "You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine." (v. 8) "In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us."

My Thoughts

Paul had Titus stay in Crete so that he could teach the people there to follow God. There was very negative testimony of the people of Crete at that time, and the unfortunate thing is that it is true. Paul wanted to change that and so he left Titus in charge of so doing.

I believe that we can do the same thing. That's kinda what this blog is about isn't it? I guess it's actually more me sharing my thoughts on what I read from the Bible, but that doesn't mean that no one can or will learn from what I say here. And the same goes for all of you reading this. Others can learn from you, even if it's just your own personal thoughts.

There are some who are gifted at teaching others (I'm talking specifically in God's word here) but that doesn't mean that we can't all teach. We can even just teach the basics and let a pastor or someone else more experienced teach from there. If someone comes to know Jesus because of you, you can't just say, "Okay, great! Seeya!" That doesn't work very well. They may have accepted Jesus into their heart, but they may not know certain things, or they may think that certain things are okay or proper when they're not.

Especially when someone comes to Jesus through us, we need to stick by them and teach them more. Invite them to church or maybe introduce them to a mentor of yours. Help that person to continue their growth in God, and in the process, you will probably grow a bit yourself.

One great way to teach others what it means to be a follower of Christ is to live that way. Show by your actions and your words and your attitude. We are all a little different depending on who's around, but as long as you don't contradict what you say you believe, then I don't believe it's a problem.

If there is someone you know who is a newcomer to Christ, or if you happen to witness someone's coming to Christ, then make sure you take the time to grow with them. Help them with something they are struggling with and invite them into your church an/or to any Bible study or other small groups. Learn with them and teach them.

Prayer Time

Now you talk to God about what you read, and you can even read this chapter of the Bible for yourself before you do.

Let me know your thoughts on this reading as well.

Thank you for taking the time to read, I pray that what you have read blesses and inspires you! Godbless!
