Celebration

2 Samuel 6

I pray blessings on you as you read.

(v. 3) "David, wearing a linen ephod, danced before the Lord with his might, while he and the entire house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouts and the sound of trumpets."

My Thoughts

We all celebrate many different things. Birthdays, Christmas, New Year (both of which just passed) other holidays, our favorite sports teams' wins, and our own personal victories. There's so many things to celebrate and there's so many ways to celebrate! How do you celebrate different things? Do you party, shout, sing, give a gift or a hug or kiss, or dance?

David danced to celebrate the return of the ark of the covenant. Others at that same time were shouting for joy, playing trumpets and also dancing. The point is that celebration is awesome! As we get older, we don't really celebrate our birthdays as much. Even I don't really. I think the reason is that as kids, we are excited to grow up so our birthdays are very important and exciting for us. As we get older, we realize that we are getting closer to old age and eventually death, so we are less excited. We should change that.

Each day we get to live is a blessing from God. Each birthday should remind us of how much closer we are to being in heaven with God, rather than how much closer we are to death. That's why we should still be at least a little bit excited on our birthday and celebrate!

I don't think there is any good reason not to celebrate good things or memorable things that happen in our lives. On my next birthday, I am going to try to remember this and remember to be more excited about it than I was this year. If you really don't want to grow old, then you need to stop thinking about it and not let yourself become old. When you stop laughing and you start getting grumpy about your life and your age, that's when you've gotten old.

Let yourself get excited about things! Get excited about things like a little kid, no matter what your actual age is! Never stop laughing or finding joy and excitement in things and remember to enjoy your life, starting now and going forever. It's not too late to enjoy the rest of your life now.

Prayer Time

Now you talk to God about what you read, and you can even read this chapter of the Bible for yourself before you do.

Let me know your thoughts on this reading as well.

Thank you for taking the time to read, I pray that what you have read blesses and inspires you! Godbless!
