Daily Bible Reading with DragoNate #105

Think About it

Numbers 22

I pray blessings on you as you read.

(v. 31) "Then the Lord opened Balaam's eyes, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the road with his sword drawn. So he bowed low and fell face down." (v. 34) "Balaam said to the angel of the Lord, 'I have sinned. I did not realize you were standing in the road to oppose me. Now if you are displeased, I will go back.' "

My Thoughts

Sometimes God doesn't show us everything right away, as evidenced by Numbers 22. God sent an angel to oppose Balaam, but Balaam could not see because God did not allow him to. He allowed Balaam's donkey to see the angel, and Balaam should have thought about why the donkey would turn away from where he wanted her to go.

God may keep certain things hidden from us, either completely or for a time. I believe God does this to see if we can figure things out before He just gives us the answer. Instead of beating his donkey, Balaam should have realized that something was wrong when she was acting weird. When she spoke, the donkey asked Balaam if she had ever done this kind of thing before and he answered no. He didn't think about it beforehand.

When something is happening that doesn't normally happen, we need to stop and think about it before we act out in anger or frustration or in any other way, really. Get a clear head and think about what may be different. It's not always going to be that something is necessarily wrong, but just different than normal. Even if it is a good thing, or a positive thing, we should be thinking about it first before acting.

I believe that God does this in order to test us and to teach us. There's no better time to learn than right now! So let's start paying more attention to things so that when something is different, we notice almost immediately and we can think about what is different and why it may be. Then talk to God about it and ask Him what it is He wants you learn from this.

Prayer Time

Now you talk to God about what you read, and you can even read this chapter of the Bible for yourself before you do.
