Bible Reading #185 - Prayer of Faith

Prayer of Faith

James 5

I pray blessings on you as you read.

(v. 13-15) "If any of you are having trouble, pray. If you are happy, sing psalms. If you are sick, call for the church leaders. Have them pray for you and anoint you with olive oil in the name of the Lord. (Prayers offered in faith will save those who are sick, and the Lord will cure them.) If you have sinned, you will be forgiven.

My Thoughts

How do you offer a prayer in faith? I posted before about asking In Jesus' Name, and it still kinda applies here. To ask in Jesus' name means to align your request and your heart in that request with the heart of Jesus. Praying in faith means to do the same thing, faithfully believing that your prayer is heard.

When you talk to God about something important to you, pray earnestly. Talk to Him about it often, not just once. Talking to God multiple times won't increase the chance of Him answering your prayer, but it will remind you of Him and teach you to have faith and rely on Him.

In the bad times; times of trouble, times of pain, times of fear and sorrow and loss. Pray. Talk to God about it. Give it to God and let Him deal with it. In fact, tell your problems about your God.

tell your storm how big your God is

When you are happy or joyful, excited, or otherwise in a good mood, thank God for it! I know I say this a lot in these posts. That's because it's super important. It is important for us to thank God for the good things and to include Him, in fact center Him, in both the good and the bad.

In sickness, we should be asking for others to pray for us as well as praying ourselves. James says to go to the church and ask them to pray over you. With serious things, we definitely should be getting others to pray for us. Just as we should be praying for others in serious things.

Prayer really is powerful. Especially when we pray faithfully, relying on God, we rest assured that god has heard our prayers. He will not always say yes, but He definitely listens. When you pray, align your heart with the heart of Jesus and pray in faith, knowing God hears you and loves you and cares about what you say.

Prayer Time

Now you talk to God about what you read, and you can even read this chapter of the Bible for yourself before you do.

Let me know your thoughts on this reading as well.

Thank you for taking the time to read, I pray that what you have read blesses and inspires you! Godbless!

  1. Love the saying you have in there:
Don't tell God how big your storm is
Tell the storm how big your God is!

That is such an awesome saying.
It is so true to pray about everything and to ask others to pray for you. I need to be doing the latter more myself (asking others to pray for me and over me).
    Thank you for these reminders!!!

  2. Faith in God is very important, but you also gotta ask for prayer, when you need it, from others!
